I'm a tourist here from Southern California...(the capitol of Mexico) and thought the food was wonderful...Portions are plentiful, chips and dips are not overly spicy, and the Frajitas were enough for three at dinner and enough to take a carry out. The Taco salad is great - they're very generous with their servings. Service is fast and staff is very courteous. This place is a must for a great Mexican meal. I'll be back anytime I'm visiting Eau Claire on the south side., Kitchen is under remodel - but will be open again before I go back to California. Love it, Love it, Love it!!! Can't beat the price and it's all fresh!!!

I USED to love this place, the food was great! You u could honestly tell that that chefs took their time preparing and seasoning their food to perfection! .... But I now have no idea what happened , I invite my family to eat out, just raving how amazing it was, and what we got was rude hosts service who had a problem moving us because she couldn't count how many people were with us ( only 4 ). The food was terrible , I ordered the southwest egg rolls as app, and it was discussing you could completely tell it was from a frozen food box and simply reheated! The rest of our food was so not like it was to be, unseasoned and slopped together. Have not eaten here since!

Sub par food. Sub par margaritas. The only thing that was good was the service and price. Tried It twice and there are just too many better options for mexican. Will never go back. Don't waste your money on the fish tacos!

The food was tasty and reasonably priced, but our server was unbelievably slow. It took forever for him to take our order, and even longer to bring out our drinks.

Don't order the margaritas, made from cheap tequila that tasted and smell like gasoline.

Another decent choice for Mexican food in Eau Claire. Sopa de pollo (chicken soup) very good!

DO NOT EAT here! Especially if there is a Taco Bell nearby. Really, it's that bad. While in town for the night, we (8 of us)had a craving for Mexican food. Let me give you an example of our food. Chili Relleno...pre-made and frozen. Chicken Chimichanga...chicken preportioned and frozen. Ground Beef Taco....ok, but very little flavor. Ground Beef Enchilada...frozen (the meat at least). The ground beef was crumbly and fell out of the taco, yet was formed like meatloaf in the enchilada. Cheese Quesadilla.....white cheese that resembled melted and reformed Velveeta. The chips and salsa were good, beans and rice were good, that's it. Seriously. Comments passed around the table made the conclusion that this tasted like hospital food. I've had Mexican food that's twice as good, for less cost. Really wish we'd have checked Yelp before we went. Oh yeah, we were laughed at when we complained. Even accused of half eating our food. Well, when a chicken chimichanga smells like frozen shrimp, wouldn't you send it back? Normally when you leave these places you have the flavor in your mouth for awhile, here we taste nothing. I can't imagine how bad the special cheese sauce is that costs a dollar extra. Our waitress was very pleasant while we were there, until the end when she appeared to have inhaled laughing gas or something. I just don't get why it's funny when your customer is telling you how bad the food is. Oh well, it's a memory we will never forget. We won't ever forget to not go back. Gave one star because I couldn't give zero.

Stumbled upon this place with a colleague of mine during a recent business trip to Eau Claire. The bean dip, tamales and tacos were above average. The guacamole and salsas on the other hand were pretty bland. Considering our low expectations for authentic mexican in Wisconsin, we were pleasantly surprised.

Yes, it's Americanized Mexican, but it's still very good. I've eaten here a few times and have had perfectly fine food, sometimes quite delicious. Is it the most authentic or the most exotic? No, and for what it is, it's just fine.

Atmosphere like Chi-Chi's, but the food is not as good. They did a nice job with the interior - former Pondorosa which looks crappy from the outside but they have done nice things inside. However the food is strictly hot table mexican, and not very good. In fact, there beef taco's are not as good as Taco Bell - really, how can you suck worse than that? But they do have some other options that taste better than the Bell, and do have a full bar. Plus, it is really cheap for a sit down place.

We really like this place over Cancun's. We both had this rib eye steak which was really thin with some kind of chirizo and bean sauce on top and let em tell you that was delish. The service is always prompt and attentive. Margaritas good and We always order the cheese sauce to go with the chips and salsa. We will continue to eat here over Cancun. Of course like other posters again have posted it is Americanized but if you order the right things you will have a really good meal. Ive also had the carnitas here which are really good too.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
